Bottom Line: Do Wrinkle Creams Work

by Geoff Hopkins

We've all heard the old adage that "beauty lies in the eye of the beholder", and as we age, we worry more and more about it being true. Most of us have trouble accepting the fact that our youthful beauty is going to fade with age and that others won't find us attractive any longer.
Actresses and actors, the world over, take special care of their faces in order to look good. A good looking woman is the center of attraction at every place she visits. Advanced cosmetic surgeries are becoming popular these days; thanks to the growing awareness among the females to look good.

Someone has rightly said that "time is a great healer but a poor beautician". As we grow old, our skin loses its shine and beauty. The result is a dull skin that pleases no one. Blemishes, lose skin, dark circles etc. are some of the consequences of old age.

In order to address the problem of aging, we need to examine the basics. We need to know what wrinkles are and what causes them. Within our bodies we produce two proteins, elastin and collagen, which help keep our skin looking good.

These two proteins are responsible for maintaining firmness and shine in our skin. As one grows old, his body loses its capacity to produce these proteins. As a result, fine lines start appearing on his face. These fine lines extend around the cheeks, mouth and eyes.

These fine lines caused by lack of elastin and collagen are called wrinkles. Finding them can be very stressful for most people, but to some the smallest wrinkles are reason to panic. These wrinkles are a sign that our youthful beauty is leaving us and old age is setting in.

The biggest question is "do wrinkle creams work?" There are innumerable anti aging skin care products available in online shops and cosmetic studios. A person gets confused when he has to choose a good wrinkle cream from among the hundreds of wrinkle creams up for sale.

You can easily find the answer to the question do wrinkle creams work if you take a look at the constituents of an anti-aging product. Moreover, the usual method of trial and error works at times. A skin care expert would also help you to find an answer to the eternal question- do wrinkle creams work.

You Can Stop Those Wrinkles

Submitted By: Pauline Downie

Tirelessly yet persistently we women scour the shelves of the department stores and the like, to find the perfect moisturizer, which will miraculously take away those wrinkles and have us looking younger.

Can it be done? Yes it can. I myself have spent a considerable amount of time, money and energy searching and trying many different types of moisturizes to fight the aging process.

Along the way I have discovered and learnt a lot, especially when it comes to knowing what should be in a moisturizer to help our aging skin.

What to look for:

For a day time moisturizer always look for one that contains an SPF (Sun Protection Factor) of at least 15+.

If your skin is oily or acne prone, a moisturizing lotion or gel would be best suited for you as a cream may clog your pours. Also, look for a product which contains salicylic acid as this will help you clear up your acne.

If you suffer from very dry skin, you should look for a moisturizer with Niacinimide to help reduce water loss. Make sure the moisturizer is a light cream and contains ingredients like Glycerin and Dimethicone.

Sensitive skin works best with moisturizers containing Green Tea, Feverfew and Vitamin C, as this helps any irritation.

For skin which feels tight, a cream which is very greasy will do the trick.

To help you look younger and minimize fine lines, look for a moisturizer which contains AHA’s or Alpha Hydroxy Acids, Retinol, Vitamin A and E. Or try and find a moisturizer that contains collagen and elastin, as these ingredients also help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

I am sure we are all aware the sun dehydrates the skin of its natural oils, so be careful if you do a lot of outdoor activities, as this can also lead to the skin losing moisture and causing wrinkles.

Our skin ages prematurely due to the passage of time and exposure of our skin to elements. As we age our skin stops producing natural oils and when this happens the skin losses its capacity to hold moisture, this is how the skin becomes prone to wrinkles and losses it’s elasticity and so begins the anti aging journey.

You don’t have to spend a lot of money on your skin care, there are many, many products to choose from, and it is really a matter of finding what works best for you.

Of course you also need to look after yourself from the inside, drinking 8 to 10 glasses of water a day, eating healthy and exercising. This combined with your daily skin care routine is a sure fire way to help beat the aging process.

Reduce Wrinkles Naturally

by Richie Mont

There are many simple guidelines you can follow that will help your skin stay as healthy and wrinkle-free as possible. All of these suggestions are simple and can be started immediately.
* Don't be a raisin: Stay out of the sun. This is the first line of wrinkle defense suggested by everyone. Too much sun eventually does the same thing to your skin that it does to dried fruit: It shrivels it up. This is especially true today, as depletion of the earth's ozone layer allows more of the sun's harmful rays to reach your vulnerable skin.

* Avoid tanning booths: They produce the very same wrinkling rays as the sun.

* Do Not Scrunch: It's okay to occasionally make a funny face, but constantly furrowing your brow, squinting, or puckering your lips will, in time, create wrinkles or make those you already have worse. How do you know if you're scrunching? Wear a piece of cellophane tape over your forehead. Every time you furrow your brow, you'll feel the tape start to crinkle.

* Keep pillows away from your face: Sleep wrinkles are wrinkles that are caused by pressing your face into the pillow at night. If you're guilty of this habit, learn to sleep on your back instead, or experiment to find a position where your face is not pressing the pillow. You may see some of your smaller lines fade away.

* Don't be a yo-yo dieter: Gaining a lot of weight can stretch your skin. Then losing weight (especially if you're older and your skin is less elastic) can result in wrinkles because the skin will not completely retract to its original size.

* Exercise regularly: People who are generally in good shape seem to have healthier, more elastic skin than those who aren't. The elastic quality that allows the skin to spring back to its original shape after being stretched is significantly better in athletes and people who are active.

* Eat right: Vitamins and minerals are important to maintaining youthful skin. Among the most important are the B-complex vitamins (found in beef, chicken, eggs, whole wheat and enriched flour, and milk, among other food) and vitamins A and C (found in fresh fruit and vegetables). The best foods for healthy skin are green leafy vegetables, carrots, and fresh fruit.

* Don't smoke: Smoking, in addition to being bad for your general health, can result in premature wrinkling around your mouth due to all those years of puckering lips around cigarettes. Smoking also tends to decrease blood supply to the small blood vessels under your skin, which could exacerbate wrinkling.

* Stick with something sobering on Saturday night: Partygoers and others who hit the bottle too heavily may find that while alcohol drowns their sorrows, it also brings on wrinkles. Why? Because your face puffs up in the morning after you've had too much to drink. And that temporarily stretches the skin. This swelling and subsequent shrinking can create wrinkles.

* Use a moisturizer: No moisturizer on the market can reverse the aging process. If you have dry skin, however, the use of a moisturizing lotion can hide some of the smaller wrinkles that form on the surface. It is important to dampen the skin first before applying moisturizing cream. NOTE: The best natural moisturizer is water. Drink lots and lots of it. Water hydrates your skin from within.

* Deal with Wrinkles the Oriental Way: The way wrinkles are dealt with in oriental medicine is "from the inside out". Massage your face. Using your fingertips, your thumbs, and the palms of your hands, rub every part of your face and neck. Any kind of massage will help to maximize stimulation and circulation. It can also round out the facial muscles, whose symmetry is often lost in fixed or rigid expressions.

* Don't be fooled into buying "miracle" creams: False advertising about certain over-the-counter lotions has popped up everywhere. The claims being made by certain cosmetic companies for anti-aging creams have been found by the Food and Drug Administration [FDA] to be misleading.

* Go easy on the suds: If anything, people in our society tend to over wash. Over washing can lead to dryness, which can create temporary wrinkling. Solution? Wash less and use only extra-mild soaps and rinse extremely well. Spend more time rinsing and less time washing.

* Use a humidifier: Keeping the air in your house moist is great for your skin and may prevent the smaller, temporary wrinkles that sometimes come with dry skin.

Don't Avoid Your Wrinkles,They Certainly Won't Avoid You

by George Christodoulou

There are certain people in this World who regard their health somewhat with scorn. They have adopted the viewpoint of "If I ignore a health problem, it might disappear," This is not a very good viewpoint to have, and might even be fatal in certain extreme circumstances.
But when it comes to aesthetics or cosmetics, some people might regard paying too much attention to how you look being flippant or a narcissist, but there is nothing wrong about wanting to look good. The fact is people who know that they look good also feel better. And there is nothing wrong with that.

There is nothing more inevitable in the fact that as people grows older, their body becomes more wrinkled. This is especially true of their face, their soldiers, their arms and their hands. In fact any part of their body that has been exposed any extremes of weather, especially rain, strong winds as well as the rays of the sun.

Even people who spend a lot of time indoors eventually develop wrinkles, but at a much slower pace. So what causes wrinkling, and how can we prevent or arrest their spread in our body, or at least the surface of it?

The body contains a very powerful protein known as collagen. Collagen's role in our metabolism is to support bodily tissues, and its level is around 25% of all the proteins in our body. In the medical profession, collagen has earned the nickname of "the glue" As we age; the skin loses a lot of its moisture, and with the collagen which prevents wrinkling of the skin. In recent years, scientist have succeeded in developing a chemical formula which can simulates the attributes of collagen in the human skin and effectively arrest the wrinkling process. As well as cleaning and moisturizing the skin, most anti-wrinkle creams on the market contain this collagen simulate, which has proven to be highly effective. People who apply anti-wrinkle cream on a regular basis have proven that facts cannot be ignored.

Facial Exercises

by Sharon

Doing facial exercises is a natural way to keep your face beautiful, young looking and feeling fresh. When you first start practising facial exercises, it is advisable to do them every day to till you get used to them, after which you can do them thrice a week.
Here's a look at some facial exercises that will help to keep you facial muscles very supple:

* Exercises for the eye - Eyes become pretty stressed out with all that T.V watching and working at the PC so you need to relax your eye muscles. To do this sit down and in an upright position. Close you eyes and look down as far as possible. Now open them and once again look as far as you can. Next lift your eyebrows slowly and keep at it as long as you feel comfortable.

* Exercises for the forehead - The forehead certainly needs attention as all the aging wrinkles appear there for everyone to see! To relax forehead muscles, sit down in an upright position, and bring down your eyebrows. When you do this wrinkle your nose about ten times. This exercise should be done at least five times. Another relaxing exercise is to lie flat on the bed and stare right up at the ceiling. While staring lift you eyebrows and repeat this exercise for about 10 times.

* Exercises for the cheek - Facial exercises for the cheek, help to relax the cheek muscles and this part of your face is what's most noticed. Sagging cheeks are unsightly! To do them simply close your lips in a relaxed manner and move them into a pout. This should be done for about ten times. Another exercise is to smile and when doing so count to about 5 and then relax.

* Exercises for the lips - Pucker your lips because this will bring the corners of your mouth together. Count to five and then relax. This should be done for about five times. Another exercise is to close your lips, and curl them into your mouth. Hold them in this position to the count of ten.

Facial exercises are an inexpensive way of getting a younger look and improved facial appearance. It not only cost you less, but is non-evasive as well. Doing them regularly will help you see results because they stimulate your face muscles and keep the skin in place. This means fewer wrinkles and signs of aging.

Since it is a natural means of looking young you can try them out without having to worry about side effects or 'what if something does wrong' tensions! All you require is to spend a couple of minutes a day in the comfort of your home to do them. You don't need to visit a salon or gym and spend money to look young and fresh. Facial exercises will do this for you cost-free!
